Sapphire Blue Martini Recipe
So if you know me at all, you know I hate making tea & coffee for people who come to visit my home.
I find the whole "would you like tea or coffee?" really just Uuugh, like those are the only two options in life??
Maybe it's because I'm a little bit "extra" or maybe it's just because I always want a little luxury in my everyday. Maybe it's because I only drank the tea option to be social but didnt really enjoy it. I'm not sure why but I decided that when you come to MY house, those would not be the only options. So I built a "Bar" (it's not really a bar more of a drinks station) into my kitchen.
When you come to MY house it's "Would you like a drink?" I tend to start by saying tea...coffee?? But by the time I get to Iced Tea...Iced coffee?...Iced caramel latte?... Passionfruit soda? I find the most common reaction is a "Oooooohhh! with an big excited grin at the thought of having a "fancy drink" of a random Tuesday afternoon. I wont lie, it gives me a great sense of pride, bringing people out of the mundane into the luxurious and extraordinary, even if it's only in a tiny way.
Likewise that's why I put so much effort into ensuring my jewellery is luxurious, high quality, pristine, including the little polish cloth for you to keep it that way and of course giftwrapped... without going over the top with crazy expensive and unnecessary extra packaging that the customer only ends up paying for in the price of the piece...but I digress.
Now depending on the time of day it's usually a non alcoholic drink. I don't really drink alcohol except for a nice digestif (in a french accent) at the end of a meal at Christmas. I know, I know...I'm totally uncultured in the wine department! I wish I could drink wine but honestly most alcohol makes me voilently ill for days because of my medical condition so it's just not worth the hassel. Although this year I think I'm going to try get a bit more adventurous and start making tasty cocktails.
And here's the fun part, You're gonna make them with me! I've decided to try find one themed cocktail per month and I'm going to try make it! I'll probably need your opinions on whether you think it tastes nice or not because no doubt they'll all taste too strong for me but I might even try figure out a non alcoholic substitute.
So for September of course I had to kick this off with something Sapphire themed, to celebrate the elegance and beauty of Septembers birthstone. So this one is for all of you September babies, those with anniversaries, birthdays or events to celebrate in September.
The Sapphire Blue Martini is not only delicious but visually stunning, capturing the vibrant blue of a sapphire.
Ingredients
- 2 oz Gin (Bombay Sapphire to stay on theme)
- 1/2 oz Blue Curaçao
- 1/4 oz Dry Vermouth
- A dash of orange bitters (optional)
- Lemon twist or blueberries for garnish
Instructions
1. Chill the Glass: Begin by chilling your martini glass. You can do this by filling it with ice water and setting it aside while you prepare the drink, or by placing it in the freezer for a few minutes.
2. Mix Ingredients: In a mixing glass filled with ice, combine the gin, Blue Curaçao, and dry vermouth. If you like a hint of citrus complexity, add a dash of orange bitters.
3. Stir: Unlike the often-shaken James Bond martini, stirring this mixture will prevent the drink from becoming too diluted and will keep it crystal clear, mirroring the clarity of a flawless sapphire.
4. Prepare the Glass: Empty the martini glass that has been chilling. Ensure it's frosty and cold.
5. Strain: Strain the cocktail into the chilled martini glass, ensuring that no ice chips make their way into the glass.
6. Garnish: Garnish with a lemon twist or a skewer of blueberries for an added pop of blue and an elegant presentation.
7. Serve Immediately: Serve immediately to enjoy the crisp, cool flavors of your Sapphire Blue Martini.
This cocktail is perfect for themed parties, special events, or as a chic drink to wind down with at the end of a day. It's striking blue hue and elegant flavors make it a memorable choice for any occasion, just like the sapphire itself!
ENJOY!
